Steppin' Out

Hey everyone! This past Saturday was a fun and exciting day for Patti and Saturday night marked a new milestone for her.

First of all, Tom and Barbara Robinson from our L.I.F.E. group in our church back home dropped in on Saturday morning. What a great surprise and a wonderful blessing! We miss everyone from West Monroe/Monroe and a personal visit was really special.

Secondly, our Dallas friends, Mike and Janie Goodman, invited us to Mike's birthday party and, at the urging of myself and several others, Patti agreed to go!

So Patti got dressed up in her new, red Christmas outfit (Courtesy of Trish Phillips), put on her makeup (hadn't done that in a while) (not that she needs it, of course!) and at 6:45 PM we rolled out of the hospital, into the car and over to the Goodman's. We stayed and visited for a little over an hour and she had the opportunity to see, and to be loved on by, a number of longtime Dallas friends. She really enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the hospital and be in a crowd again. I really enjoyed seeing her enjoy herself!

We made it back to the hospital by 8:45. Patti was flat worn out, but very happy. I'm sure her mouth was sore from smiling so much!

We had a pretty calm Sunday visiting with family, doing homework for speech therapy (which is coming along very well) and booing the Cowboys. This next week will be a week of change as the plan, for right now, is to move her over to Irving, TX to a rehab center. More on that in the next post.

Saturday represents a really good first step for Patti as she begins to move her life back towards some normal activities. I have seen all along how God has made special provisions for us. One of them is having friends in different places to provide support and encouragement for Patti. To be able to take her first outing among friends really helped remove the uncertainty for Patti and heighten her desire to go and take a new step and receive a blessing. I'm here to tell you that, if you ever wonder if God would do that for you and make special provisions in your life, you are wrong to think that He will...because the truth is He already has! And at the time you need them He will provide them. You only need to trust Him!

Forever in Him,

Mike
