Icy Streets and Warm Hearts

The streets in Dallas are iced over this morning giving me an opportunity to update the blog. Patti is continuing her progress in therapy. Yesterday they began working with her on a walker. Her right side is not providing all the support she needs, but the idea is to stimulate the muscles to action and the brain to recognize it.

The therapists at Zale-Lipshy have really been wonderful to work with and, not surprisingly, they love Patti. Not only for her willingness to work hard but for her bright greetings when they come by the room to get her and her ready smile and laugh when something funny or unusual happens. I think the greatest blessing of all so far is that Patti is absolutely 100% in the personality department. I've heard a lot of stories of people who suffered strokes and their personalities changed dramatically. God has been most merciful to Patti and our family!

Patti still has up days and down days. She really wishes she were in a different situation and has expressed that on several occasions, but she retains the motivation to work, be faithful and overcome this temporary interruption. She misses her friends and family and every card and e-mail is soaked up on arrival!

We are currently looking at several extended care facilities for Patti after she is discharged from the hospital. Therefore the current prayer requests are:

1. Wisdom in selecting the right facility for Patti to complete her recovery.
2. Continued prayers over Patti for complete healing and mental and spiritual encouragement and stamina to endure.

Thanks to all of you for your continuing prayers and support. It means so much to know that the love of the body of Christ is available and active!

Mike
